In exactly one month, I will be running in the Capitol Hill Classic in Washington, D.C. I thought about that when my alarm went off at 6am this morning and it’s what got me out of bed. I need to be in good shape for this one. I wouldn’t want to embarrass myself in front of the President of the United States (it helps me to pretend that President Obama will be waiting for me at the finish line with a bottle of Powerade and a hug… wishful thinking, I know).
I guess the countdown to my next 10K worked as motivation this morning because I ended up running 4 miles and feeling great. It was just what I needed after a week of not-so-great runs and feeling kind of down about my workouts. I didn’t beat an PRs, but I ran 38 seconds per mile faster than the average of my past seven runs. I’d say it was a pretty good start to my day.
