Stitchfix Review #5

Big news, folks! I won the #StitchFixFriday contest that Stitchfix does every week. I’m so excited! I won with a photo I took on my trip to LA (that I casually never posted anything about because of a situation with food poisoning… so use your imagination there…).

The winning photo! That's me on Venice Beach in my Loveappella Abella Maxi Dress from my last fix.

I was so grateful to receive a $50 credit and I went ahead and scheduled my next fix right away.

To be 100% honest, I was a little disappointed in this fix. I did get one awesome item out of it, but the other items were not “me” at all. Here’s what I got (prepare for some stripes, y’all):

Skies are Blue Sia Florl Embroidery Peasant Top Price: $58 Problems: It's a little big, but in a cute way

Price: $58
Problems: It’s a little big, but in a cute way

This was my only keeper and I’m a big fan! It fits a little loose, but in a way that I love. I have been really bloated this week (thanks, womanhood), so this top has been perfect for meetings. Yes, I have worn it two days in a row.

Renee C Cheli Striped Maxi Dress Price: $68 Problems: Pattern was NOT cute, quite heavy, not needed in my wardrobe right now

This maxi dress is great in theory (re: awesome material, packs well for travel, simple colors), but it was all sorts of wrong when I put it on. Horizontal stripes, folks. Not too pretty.

Pixley Samantha Textured Pencil Skirt Price: $64 Problems: Hugged my butt a little too closely (and not in a cute way), low quality material, strange pattern in my opinion

I am just going to say one thing here: My sizable ass and I absolutely hate pencil skirts.

Fate Elyse Striped Sheer Sleeveless Top Price: $48 Problems: Too tight in the arms, too short, a little too modern for my taste

This top was alright, but it was a little short and tight in the arms. I just don’t think this one was meant to be.

Market & Spruce Torin French Terry Stripe Blazer Price: $72 Problems: Would have liked a solid color instead of a pattern, a little short, low quality fabric (though it was soft and cozy)

I liked the idea of this blazer, but I am going to predict that I will not wear it often and that does not fit my needs or my desire to reduce the amount of stuff in my life. This fit very well and the material was soft, but I definitely don’t need it.

Overall, I would say that the prices were a bit high for the items I got. They were all alright, but I could find them in department stores or even some boutiques for better prices. I understand that a service like StitchFix comes with a price, but I was a little surprised by the low quality on the items like the blazer and the pencil skirt. I still look forward to using StitchFix again. I have consistently kept one awesome item from each fix and I truly do wear those items all the time.

Have you tried Stitchfix and loved it? Maybe you have some reservations about your first fix? Comment below with experiences or questions!

  1. Jane, I am not surprised that you won another contest. You look like a model in that photo. The clothes they sent look great on the hanger, but I know all too well about the “butt” situation. After all, you are my daughter and it comes from somewhere. Just sayin’.

You look fantastic wherever you go!!
    Next assortment will be better.
    Love Mom
